Ray, everyone else is trying to compare Norway, Finland, Denmark to Sweden. Here’s the problem. Sweden has very different age demographics than the rest (I think maybe because of their better elder care system?). Only 1/10th of Sweden’s deaths have been under 65. Most are over 80. I’d do a comparison of the deaths by age with the other Scandinavian countries but those numbers aren’t available. So I picked places that had similar overall populations. My suspicion is that Sweden’s deaths under 65 will still be larger per capita than Denmarks, but probably not significantly larger. One other thing to note is that Sweden’s case rate has been flat for a long while, whereas other countries in the region are seeing increasing cases. I’m very curious about how this plays out long term.

Jonathan, it might be, but everyone else is doing that. It seems like it’s not the best comparison too… most of Sweden’s deaths are over 80 years old. They are a much older country per capita than Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

I ought to compare the stats under age 65… my guess is that they’re pretty close. Only 10% of Swedens deaths have been under 65.
